PulseAPI retains check history for a period that depends on your plan. Older checks are automatically deleted. This article explains the limits and their implications.

What Gets Deleted
When checks exceed the retention period, they are permanently deleted from PulseAPI:
- Individual check records (status, response time, errors)
- Data that feeds the uptime percentage calculations and charts
Incidents are not deleted by the check retention policy — incident records persist regardless of plan.
Automatic Deletion
Deletion runs automatically on a schedule. You don't need to take any action. When a check ages past your plan's retention period, it's deleted.
Important: Deletion is irreversible. PulseAPI does not offer a way to recover deleted check history, and upgrading your plan after data has been deleted does not restore it.
Impact on Charts and Uptime Calculations
The Response Time Chart and Uptime Heatmap on monitor detail pages can only display data within your retention window. On a Free plan, selecting the "30d" view will show empty data for days older than 7.
Similarly, uptime percentage calculations for periods longer than your retention window will be less accurate (fewer data points).
Upgrading for Longer History
Upgrading extends your retention from the date of upgrade forward — it does not restore deleted history. If you need 90-day history, upgrading to Professional gives you that from today onward.
