Editing and Deleting a Notification Channel

Editing and Deleting a Notification Channel

This article explains how to update a notification channel's settings and how to delete a channel you no longer need.

Editing a Channel

  1. In the left sidebar, click Alerts.
  2. Click Notification Channels.
  3. Find the channel you want to edit.
  4. Click the ... menu → Edit.
  5. Update the fields (name, recipient email, webhook URL, etc.).
  6. Click Save.

Changes take effect immediately for future notifications.

Reconnecting Slack

If your Slack workspace permissions changed or the PulseAPI app was reinstalled, you may need to reconnect:

  1. Edit the Slack channel.
  2. Click Reconnect to Slack to go through the OAuth flow again.

Deactivating a Channel

To temporarily stop a channel from receiving notifications without deleting it:

  1. Edit the channel.
  2. Toggle Active to off.
  3. Save.

An inactive channel does not receive notifications, even if assigned to active alert rules.

Deleting a Channel

Warning: Deleting a channel removes it from all alert rules it was assigned to. Rules that had only this channel assigned will no longer send notifications when they fire.

  1. In the Notification Channels list, find the channel.
  2. Click the ... menu → Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Impact on Alert Rules

When you delete a channel:

  • It is removed from every alert rule that had it assigned
  • Alert rules that still have other channels assigned will continue to notify those remaining channels
  • Alert rules that had only the deleted channel assigned will silently fire incidents without sending any notification — review your rules after deleting a channel
